5th-Mar-2013 12:17 am - [sticky post] Friends Only
I'm Liza, 23 years old. I love reading and swimming, and I especially like gaming. I made this journal mainly because some events require me to register in order to participate. I'm more active on Facebook, though. I lock my rants because they are private, mostly. If you want to be my friend, I'll be glad, though! :)

29th-Oct-2013 03:55 am - H/D Book Fair #3

Title: You’ve Cast A Spell Over Me... Nope, Just A Hex
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 10000 words
Summary: Draco Malfoy is a very important person with a very important job. He's got a tight schedule to keep, but he’s always willing to spare a few minutes to hex Harry Potter.
Why I think you should read this:
This one is hilarious. If you need something light and funny to brighten up your day, then this is the right fic to read. I lol-ed a few times while reading in the office (luckily, my manager was busy on the phone, pfft).
28th-Oct-2013 09:50 pm - H/D Book Fair Rec #2

I actually wanted to rec H/D Book Fair stories according to the published date, but then I just read this story and felt this should be totally recced right away.

Title: And the Clock Keeps Ticking (Part 1, Part 2)
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 50000 words
Summary: Harry Potter knows three things. One, Voldemort can still cause chaos even after his death. Two, Draco Malfoy is one of the last two missing survivors. Three, Harry’s creepy dreams every night are the only key to finding Malfoy. And yet ... maybe Harry shouldn’t be so sure, for the truth about Malfoy is not what he thinks it is.
Why I think you should read this:
The plot. And the characterisations. Those two aspects really made this fic stand out amongst the other stories. I loved the mystery and the slow build, and then there was romance between Harry, Draco and Raines (who wasn't an OC, but I won't spoil the story). Their feelings were complicated and sometimes painful, but so sweet at the same time. I especially liked the way Harry wouldn't have succeeded anything if not because of his fiends' help just like in the books. And how Harry was learning (and trying, and failing) to become a good Auror was somehow realistic.

I still have a few more recs, I'll post them soon after I get back from the office <3
27th-Oct-2013 10:03 pm - H/D Book Fair 2013 Rec #1
Wow, it's been a while. I'm here again to bring more recs (finally). Let's start with the currently on going fest: H/D Book Fair!

Title: Rarely Pure and Never Simple
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 29000 words
Summary: Harry never thought taking a job as Draco Malfoy's bodyguard was going to be easy. Add in a curse that makes Malfoy even more of an obnoxious git than usual, and Harry's got serious problems.
Why I think you should read this:
Really an amusing story, Draco's thoughts were priceless. Harry was smitten by Draco and it was so endearing to read!

Title: One Floo Over the Lovegood’s Nest
Author: Anonymous
Rating: PG 13
Word count: 14000 words
Summary: Harry is not terribly surprised that there are magical plumbers, chimney sweeps, and pest control men. He is surprised that one of them is Draco Malfoy. And that he’s bloody hot in a jumpsuit.
Why I think you should read this:
Utter silliness, a super sexy Draco, and a hopelessly smitten Harry. Really a funny read, with the right amount of fluff!

Title: The Mystery of the Dead Man's Curse
Author: Anonymous
Rating: PG 13
Word count: 29000 words
Summary: An unsolved mystery, an ancient curse and a new librarian. Harry is back at Hogwarts where strange things are afoot!
Why I think you should read this:
Draco had matured a lot and he helped Harry solving a case. Harry was stubborn at first, but slowly he fell for the new Draco. It was an 'oh, I suddenly realise I have feelings for him' kind of story, but still cute.
27th-Jun-2013 03:56 pm - AS/S Rec
Title: Summer Boys
Author: bryoneybrynn
Pairing: Albus Severus/Scorpius
Rating: NC17
Summary: (none...?)
Warnings: Mild violence, swearing, explicit sex, recreational drug use, bad writing. ;)
Why I like this:
We don't know much about Scorpius and Albus, but this author give them both strong characterisations. I really love their relationship here, and the angst really made my heart ache. I read this story in one go because I just couldn't stop!
24th-Jun-2013 02:47 pm - Smoochfest Rec (A must read fic!!)
I want to dedicate this whole post for this one fic, because not only is this my prompt, but the Author really could make me surprised by writing this really wonderful fic. When I submitted the prompt, I didn't expect that the result would be this brilliant, I never thought that my simple prompt could become this growing up story, with a lot of life lessons to learn. This fic has purposes, it teaches us many things, and brings us to learn together with Draco. It has the developments that show the complicatedness of human's life, and yet teaches us not to give up hopes.

It's just like I was Draco himself, experiencing the many things that made my heart ache and then laughing with Pansy, Goyle, Astoria, being incredibly happy with Harry, and then being devastated and so small, struggling with Narcissa and Lucius, until I felt like I had recovered together with Draco.

This fic started out slow, with angst (but not overly so), and Draco's thoughts being a bit stiff because of his condition. But as you continue reading, you'd see how his character development is also reflected by the writing, and Draco's voice became more fluid, lighter and alive. It's like you'd witness how every little thing changed Draco, made him blossom wonderfully as human. And then the emotional moments--God, those were so painful. But the happy moments made me grin like an idiot too. This fic gave me so many feels and made me think to appreciate things in my life better.

Title: When the Songbird Stopped Singing
Author: nherizu (written for H/D Smoochfest 2013)
Rating: R
Word count: 37.500 (approx.)
Warning (highlight to read): Language, emotional and behavioural issues, eating disorder, angst (but with lots of fluff, too), mild violence, a brief mention of (very) minor character death(s).
Summary: Shortly after the war, Draco Malfoy wakes up with a new understanding, and Harry Potter needs firmer ground to walk on. Unfortunately, life is never easy, especially with the burdens of N.E.W.T.s looming closer. As Draco struggles to maintain his sanity, Harry is back to his old routine—stalking Draco.

Wait! Don't let the warning stop you! x]

The story isn't scary at all because of the PTSD elements, in fact they bring out the boys' human sides very well. And Draco isn't portrayed as weak despite being broken after the war. Draco's strong, very strong in a sense, and so is Harry. Draco was fucked up, but Harry was, too, and they went through a lot of things that patched them up so they could be whole again. Trust me, both Draco and Harry are so lovable and we'll ache for both of them, and be happy for them too.

Title: Two Wands Make a Right
Author: Anonymous
Rating: PG 13
Summary: Harry's wand is playing up and Hermione thinks she knows the answer, but why does she have to be right all the time, why does Draco Malfoy have to be so god damn difficult and why is he wearing his tie backwards?

Title: Countdown
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC 17
Summary: When the wizarding world is plagued by random outbreaks of Dark Magic, the Ministry assigns Curse-Breakers to assist Auror teams on their missions. Harry shouldn't be surprised when Draco Malfoy is assigned to his team, but is Malfoy a Curse-Breaker, or a curse-bringer?

Title: The Comfort of Tea
Author: Anonymous
Rating: PG
Summary: A lawn mower, a pertly pink todger, endless cups of tea and a few sly grins. Oh yes, and Harry is cursed to temporarily bond to anyone he gets close to; for some reason that person ends up being Draco, more often than not…

Title: Broken Dreams
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC 17
Summary: When Healer Malfoy answers an Auror field emergency summons, being stuck experiencing Harry Potter's memories while he sleeps is not at all what he wants to be doing, but it seems that the curse that joins them is only the tip of the crime about to be unravelled.

Title: Kiss the Joy (Until the Sun Rise)
Author: Anonymous
Rating: NC 17
Summary: The Room of Requirement was severely damaged in the war, but not so much that it could not provide for one lost student and another young hero—especially when they needed each other most of all.
